The grounds of St. John's Reformed Episcopal Church, from George and Anson Streets to Menotti Street in downtown Charleston, have been dedicated by the Vestry of the church for the development of a commemorative landscaped garden as a tribute to its member, Philip Simmons. They also established the Philip Simmons Foundation, Inc. to develop and maintain the garden and to preserve the legacy of this man and his craft.
The creation of a commemorative Heart Garden, located at the rear of the church, is a project that is in need of community support. At the present time, 1,023 bricks have been purchased for the perimeter pathways, but the project requires 3,300 to be completed.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be a part of the Charleston community and contribute only $25 to this project to honor Charleston's national treasure, Philip Simmons?
